LVA Orchestra
Orchestra Overview
The Las Vegas Academy of the Arts Orchestra Program offers a focused, high-level, quality education to dedicated instrumental music students interested in pursuing advanced studies of string instruments, including harp. Students receive college-preparatory instruction, including a focus on music theory, musicianship, and music history.
Program Curriculum
LVA Orchestra students undergo a rigorous audition process to be placed into the appropriate classes. There are four levels of the orchestra program as well as a chamber orchestra class. The top two classes are full orchestras and meet every other day with the brass and woodwinds sections. Our program is unique in that we provide regularly scheduled small group instruction (sectionals), as well as individualized instruction from the directors and highly skilled paraprofessional staff.
Program Outcome
Students in the LVA Orchestra Program not only improve their musicianship but also learn valuable life lessons. This rigorous program teaches students how to develop time-management skills, the professionalism required to make it in any chosen field, and the
importance of a strong work ethic and positive attitude. Upon graduation, students are prepared for admissions into any university, arts conservatory, or other career programs.
The Orchestra program emphasize the development of basic skills necessary to become an independent musician, i.e., auditions, intonation, style, bowing, articulation, dynamics, rhythmic precision, blend, balance, tone, and basic music theory.
