Ways LVA Supports Military Families and Students

Designated Purple Star Point of Contact to support military-connected students and families
Transition support through counselors, social workers, and a veteran educator
Student leadership involvement, including military-connected student representatives
Welcome, meet-and-greet, and orientation support for incoming students
Peer mentor/buddy system for first-year military-connected students
Ongoing check-ins and support for students who transfer during the school year
Campus recognition during the Month of the Military Child, including Purple Up Day
Student-led activities, celebrations, and inclusive events during lunch and schoolwide programs
Opportunities for family engagement through performances and special events
Respect for student choice regarding visibility and recognition (survey-based)
Access to academic and career resources, including ASVAB testing for juniors and seniors
Collaboration with district and state resources to stay informed on best practices
A transition team, including students from military families, veterans, and the school social worker, is available to welcome and support military children as they transition into the school community.
