Music Philosophy
The Grammy Award-winning Music Conservatory offers majors in Band, Guitar, Mariachi, Orchestra, Piano, Vocal-Choir, and World Jazz Studies. Serving over 900 music majors, the Music Conservatory represents the largest area of study on campus. With a vigorous curriculum focusing on individual musicianship, creativity, cutting-edge technology, and world-class performance opportunities, our students go on to some of the most prestigious university and conservatory programs. LVA music majors are encouraged every day to realize their full potential, not just musically, but also academically. As part of our college-preparatory curriculum, The Las Vegas Academy of the Arts Music Conservatory helps students acquire the skills necessary to be successful in both music and non-music fields. Upon graduation, many of our students have developed the musicianship necessary to be admitted into highly regarded collegiate or conservatory music programs - including NYU, Juilliard, Colburn, USC, Princeton, Berklee and many more. Other students apply the skills learned in our music program (time management, goal setting, problem solving) towards collegiate and professional careers in virtually any career or field of study including medicine, law, engineering, and many others.
Music students at LVA have the opportunity to work with highly-skilled faculty and para-professionals every day, focusing on small-group and individualized instruction, which allows for more personal growth. As a community of artists, interdepartmental collaboration is a common feature around campus, with students able to perform with other majors within the Music Conservatory and with other Conservatories (Dance, Theater, Visual & Media Arts).
As a component of a well-rounded education, each department in the Music Conservatory participates in at least one trip every year. These transformational experiences allow students to interact with the greatest artistic opportunities, cultures, and their student peers all over the world. LVA music majors get to perform in some of the most beautiful concert halls and cathedrals, along with being invited to prestigious festivals and conferences nationally and internationally. This includes recent trips to Barcelona, Spain in 2015 and Vienna, Austria in 2019.
